In 2010, the Iowa Legislature created the annual Health Care Insurance Costs Report. This report to the Iowa General Assembly and the Iowa Governor provides the health care costs, rate increases, and expenditures from the top insurance companies the previous year.
As required by the Iowa General Assembly, this report details the work performed by the Consumer Advocate as well as recommendations for future policy changes.
A complete company data base is provided by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners with information on what complaints have been filed against a selected company, the category of the complaint, as well as a comparative ratio of where the selected company's complaints stand in relation to other companies.
The Iowa Insurance Division is required to report annually on the insurance companies that are licensed to sell insurance in the state of Iowa. The report includes a summary of the business of insurance for the state and financial information for the Insurance Division and domiciled companies.
